As a little girl, my gym teacher told me to never go into dark alley because I was such an inept runner.  I still am not very athletic, but I am tough, tougher than I ever thought possible. I was chased by a real live grizzly bear and lived to tell about it.

I have great tenacity and patience. I love to go fishing and once I caught a 35 lb, 42 inch striped bass. When I proudly showed a photo of it, the men were impressed, but the ladies only wanted to know who the cute guy was ((the fishing guide).  I say that to find a buyer for a house you are selling, you must be like a fisherman and lure in that fish.

I am brave and not afraid to be onstage. I fulfilled a lifelong dream when I played a Baroness onstage at Lyric Opera and never sang a note.  In fact, they paid me not to sing. I also appeared in several other operas, once with Luciano Pavarotti, and that time I was painted bright blue.  My mother swore that I looked just like a Smurf but I had FUN.

I am a great negotiator. You have to be with 3 children and 6 grandchildren. I stay calm during crisis and find solutions rather than panic when the rest of the world goes crazy.

I love learning and sharing my knowledge.  Of the 2300 Realtors attending our national company convention, I was asked to speak on a panel of three Realtors explaining how we were able to get 100% satisfaction ratings from so many of our clients.

I am creative. As an artist who paints and sells my watercolors. I know color and design, so I can help you stage your home and make it aesthetically pleasing. I also love to create unique and clever marketing pieces to help sell my listings.

I am a successful Realtor and have sold over 400 houses in Chicago’s northern suburbs. I have also sold homes in towns I was seeing for the very first time because those buyers were more interested in having a Realtor they trusted, than in having one who was local.

I am a good communicator and listen as much as I talk. I really tune in to what my clients want and need – they are not always the same.  Clients thank me when I direct them to housing options that they never realized would be a better match for them.

I am persuasive and persistent. When I wanted to spend a summer in Europe while I was in college, my parents were horrified. I convinced them to let me go if I paid for the trip.  They agreed never thinking that was possible. I worked at 3 jobs and learned that anything you want badly enough is possible- you just have to dream big and work hard.

I am honest, so I tell what people they need to hear, even if it’s not necessarily what they want to hear. I confess that I have even talked clients out of buying a home that was not a sound choice for them and told sellers that the timing was not right for them to sell now.

I am an author who has written a series of books to help lead my clients through the buying and selling process. For each house I list, I make personalized booklets that highlight the home’s best features to convince prospective buyers of the home’s value so they will buy the house. I leave a stack of books in the house so each buyer can take one.

I am proud that a Denver based magazine was looking for “a successful and interesting Realtor”, and they chose me. Someone submitted my name, and they sent a reporter and photographer here and published a lavish 5 page pictorial article in LORE Magazine.

I keep in touch even after the closing. I send mailings a few times a year and I host a summer party at my home. I invite all my past clients.  Some come every year and others come just once in a while. My very first client from 30 years ago came to a recent party.

I am technologically savvy like all Realtors, but I still like to connect with people not just machines.  However you prefer to communicate, I am willing to accommodate you.

I am intuitive and like to listen to the nuances of what someone is saying so I can get to the heart of what is needed. In fact, it was my intuition that got Opera Winfrey to invite me to be on her TV show. It’s a long story but ask if you want more details about that.

I am flexible (well maybe not my body), but I listen to my clients and do my very best to accommodate their wishes. They make the decisions and I support their educated choices.

I know this area. Many years of living here and selling homes from the northern part of Chicago to the Wisconsin state line, has given me a great sense of the local markets.

I am detail organized and know how to keep the paperwork flowing. My worst closing was a divorce where husband and wife refused to be in the same room and we had to run from back and forth to get documents signed.  We still closed.

I have a big network of contacts- family, friends, clients, Realtors, tradesmen, readers of my newsletter and blog. I keep in touch because I value their friendship and know that connections like these share ideas and satisfy each other’s wants and needs. I am grateful for their support and so proud to read my very large stack of letters from satisfied clients thanking me for my help. Ask me and I can show them to you.
