Vendors and activities change so check whats happening at your local market.
For Lake County Markets, check out Little Lake County. Their site has a great printable schedule so you can visit all the local markets.
For Chicago and Suburban Farmer’s Markets, check out the Chicago Tribune. You can search by day of the week or by the town.
More than Fruits and Veggies at the Market
Recently, we checked out the Wadsworth Farmer’s Market. Of course the Market was filled with good things to eat, but our main goal was not the produce. Patch 22 offers pony rides for $5. The horses are led through the grass instead of just walking in a circle like most pony rides. My daughter can never get enough pony rides! They also have live music, master gardeners to chat with and plenty of food. The Market runs Wednesdays, 3pm-7pm until September 26. It is located in Wadsworth Park adjacent to the Wadsworth Village Hall.
If you have never been to Patch 22, I highly recommenced that too. During their pony rides, you can lead your child on a horse through their paddock. There are also animals to pet and pumpkins in the fall. Patch 22 is located at 15900 W Kelly Rd in Wadsworth.
East Grand Avenue Farmers & Artisans Market is a new Gurnee market that will run on the third Sunday of each month, July through September, from 11am-3pm. At each event, The Gurnee Police Department will offer free car seat inspections. There is a kids play area and a variety of Vendors.
We checked it out on Sunday and thought it was a wonderful market. Highlights included a Hibiscus Ice Tea from Mount Atlas Coffee and Tea and the produce from Jerry Smith Pumpkin farm….the pickling cucumbers were amazing!! The market is located at the corner of Belle Plaine & Grand Ave in Gurnee.
Plenty of time to still join in the fun
With so many markets running through October or longer, there is still plenty of time to check some out. Next on my “to do” list is the Grayslake Farmer’s Market. According to their website, they are “Lake County’s Longest Running and Largest Evening Market”. The Summer market is Wednesdays, 3pm-7pm until September 26th. Their Fall market runs on Saturdays from September 29 – December 15, 10am-2pm. With produce, music, arts and crafts and children’s activities there will be something for everyone! The market is located in downtown Grayslake on Center Street.
