Just about 10 minutes over the Wisconsin Border lies the Jelly Belly factory.  The factory is a distribution center for their online store.  The actual Jelly Belly jelly beans are made in North Chicago, Illinois.

Jelly Belly Wisconsin Tour

The free tours are offered daily from 9:00am-5:00pm, except on major holidays.  The wait times vary…we went on a recent rainy weekend and we had to wait less than a half an hour.  Visitors ride the “Jelly Belly Express” train while the conductor and overhead screens tell the history and the process of making the beans.  The tour ends with a free sample bag and a stop in the gift shop.  A “Sample Bar” allows you to taste all the different flavors.

Belly Flops and Clearance Items

I love a good bargain and nothing beats a bag of Belly Flops (irregulars).  On our trip, we purchased five 2-lb bags for just $30…normally $10 a bag, but on sale for “buy 3, get 2 free”.  My son was excited because they had 8.5 oz bags of candy corn for $2 (buy 1, get 1 free). He loved finding his favorite fall candy in the summer.

Fun for old and young alike, we highly recommend a trip to the Jelly Belly Center in Wisconsin.  Make a day out of your trip to Wisconsin and check out some other “free admission” attractions in the area:

Pleasant Prairie Premium Outlets

Mars Cheese Castle

Woodman’s Market – at 252,345 square feet, this enormous grocery store has something for everyone at very reasonable prices.  They are open 24 hours and employee owned.  Be warned they do not accept credit cards, only cash, debit, check, and WIC.  A new store is set to open in Buffalo Grove in Fall 2018.
